BAMPIRE BAMPIRE

I love Twilight in the kind of way that I can't even really talk about it because it sends me into an intense bout of euphoria followed by a low so deep it eats away ay my soul once I realize its a pretty poorly written book sensationalized by the best looking man to ever walk the globe. I get my Twilight fixes anyway I can, be it the bootleg copy my friend sent me from Ecuador, the Popsugar coverage and especially the music.  The soundtracks that have come out of the Twilight Saga have been AMAZING.  A friend and I drove five hours listening to the first one on repeat.  "Eyes on Fire". TINGLE. "Full Moon." CHILLS.  "Bella's Lullaby." TEARS. "Let Me Sign." HYSTERICS.  Then there was the second installment off the New Moon soundtrack where I was introduced to the ULTIMATE emotional cutting song: "Satellite Heart."  On June 8th my pre-ordered copy of the Eclipse soundtrack will arrive and I am almost as excited for that as I am the real deal.  Why would I be so excited for something so lacking in Robert Pattinson? Taking a cue from The Killers who did a track entitled "White Demon", Vampire Weekend has done a track called "Jonathan Low." My all time favorite guilty pleasure teaming up with my all time favorite band? I'm going to pull an emo tween move and lock myself in my room all day listening to this baby.  Some fans gave the group some major slack for being on the soundtrack, which I totally get since most of their fans are 18-25 year old men who only get a hard on for skiing and lacrosse. Other notable contributors include Muse, SIA (of "Breathe Me fame- more chills) and Band of Horses. I know.  Take a moment and a cold shower and digest all this.  Other big news in all things Vampire: True Blood Season 3 comes out June 18th!

Coachella How I Wish I Was There!

This weekend stars, musicians, hipsters and trannys alike came together at the indie-rock concert music festival Coachella and god dammit it was I was there!  Take a look at some of the pics courtesy of popsugar.
Kate Bosworth was owning things at Coachella this weekend with bf Alexander Skarsagard.  She looked great in her crochet dress and black booties and I love that tie-dye numba.

Really? Who are you?
Rachel Bilson just being the epitome of cool
If Cochella was Senior Prom Jay-Z and Beyonce would be king and queen.  She looks amazing up top but I'm not into the hippie look below.  It kinda looks like she's in a hipster halloween costume.

Emilie Hirsch
She and Him preformed
Penn Badgley was there, but where was Blake?
Indie chic princess Whitney Port was pumped about this weekend as her her five billion tweets. She looked perfect for the event too.  Tell me she's dating Dave from the Buried Life?!

I'm glad Mischa isn't looking like a complete hot mess, well... it's a big improvement from last time.
Agyness! How butch of you!
The coolest mom ever.
Why the hell are these two here? This isn't the jingle ball
Kate Hudson, thank god you got rid of the centaur.
Carrot top taking a break from flying around on a snow board.  I still can't get over the amount of chicks this guy probably swings in a night.
Don't hit me.

For the East coast, the closest thing we may come to a festival this fun is All Points West- if it ever happens.

Bitchin' Beats: M Ward and Zooey Deschanel of She and Him

Last week Zooey Deschanel and M Ward of She and Him came out with their second album (Volume Two) and sweet three pound baby jesus is it good! Deschanel's thick velvet voice paired with quirky lyrics and catchy beats make it the perfect soundtrack for spring in the city.

Check out the music video (people still make music videos?) for their newest single In The Sun

Deschanel is too cute for words and Ward is too cute for school so I was curious how the two met up. According to Wikipedia, which may or may not be written by crackheads and is the reason I have a college diploma, the two met on the set of The Go-Getter, where the director asked them to sing a duet together for the closing credits. It took a little coaxing from Ward to get the shy deschanel to come out as a singer but finally she sent him three years of her personal demo tapes. It wasn't long after that the two were recording and She and Him was formed. You probably heard some of their songs on the soundtrack of 500 Days of Summer (which was not a romantic comedy).

This leads me to my next point- GOD SHE IS COOL.  She didn't want to go into music because she was wary about becoming a big star or overexposed celebrity, which I mean, right there with you Zooey.  Her dad is a director, her mom was an actress, her sister is the star of Bones and her husband is the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie.

Man, thats a genetically cursed family.

Well, now that I've announced to everyone I have a big one for Zooey Deschanel ending this is awkward. Ha. Hmm... so? How 'bout them mets?

Be sure to check out the new album on any of the links above or I-tunes.

Whelp... That Explains That... Tory Burch Spotlights The Greateful Dead

Well, my journalistic intuition led me to dig deeper on this pressing matter as to why Tory Burch has all this tie-dye in her collection.  My boyfriend showed me this article on NyMag a week ago, but I guess I was otherwise journalistically preoccupied and to remember to blog about it.  In any case, Burch cites the Greateful Dead as a major influence in her current collection.

I'm not a "deadhead" in the slightest, although I did have many a mixed CD with Sugar Magnolia, Scarlet Begonias and Ripple on it and refused to wash my hair for like a whole week. Kind of.  Oh! I saw like 1/4 of the original Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theatre like three times. Whatever. In any case, I am a sucker for down and dirty American pop culture and promised the big guy to attend the exhibit with him so he can get in touch with his inner white boy. I think he feels a little out of it ever since he bought a pair of jeans. Well, now that, that great mystery is solved, we can all rest a little easier.

New Moon Soundtrack Now Available On Itunes!

I downloaded the New Moon soundtrack earlier this week from I-tunes.... I mean it's perfect, well almost perfect. I was listening to it when I got off the subway today, shleping a million a five different things and then some classical nonsense came on and I was all like, fine Edward maybe I'll do unmentionable things to you while listening to this, but NOT NOW. Some stand outs are, "A White Demon Love Song" recored by The Killers exclusively for the soundtrack, "Possibility" by Lykke Li, "Shooting The Moon" by Ok Go and "Friends" by Band Of Skulls, because my friends, they are, so beautiful. It's crazy good, get on board and start your countdown for November 20th!

New Vampire Weekend Single: Free Download!

My obsession with all things Vampire continues. One of my favorite bands, Vampire Weekend, has a new single Horchata out as a prelude the release of their second album on January 12 2010.

I am so freaking excited! The new single has the fun, care-free beats of their inaugural album, Vampire Weekend, and the irreverent lyrics we've come to love and expect from them. Enjoy your free download!

A Bitch to Behold: Lily Allen

She sings what she thinks, she doesn't give a fuck and now she's full frontal.  i-D Magazine had her pose in a panda costume for their August issue, but all that aside it doesn't detract from Lily Allen embodying bitchiness at it's best.  Her new album, It's Not Me, It's You, is her best to date. Check it out, especially the songs The Fear and Chinese.  God I love her, tiny tits and all.

Bitchin Beats: Pheonix

I am really into this band Pheonix whose album Wolfgang Amedeaus Pheonix is becoming my favorite summer selection.  They are alternative/ Indie Rock but have a great mix of airy notes and electronics thrown in.  There really isn't a song I don't like but check out Lasso. Be sure to download it!
