NYC Fashion Week 2010: Trend Report

The biggest celebrities were on hand last night to watch Marc Jacob's Fall 2010 Ready to Wear Collection and were treated to a more subdued and modest Marc, which we certainly did not see in his Spring line. It seemed like his muse was Angelina Jolie in Changeling; that everyday power woman from the 20's with luxe touches and hints of glamour.
This coat definitely has a strong 20's vibe; Angie would look great in this updated version of the below:

The above look was by far the most current look from the collection, and one that showed the most skin.  You have to hand it to Marc that although he kept the colors manly black, gray and tan he played the pieces up with fabrication and texture choices.
We could totally see a powerful CEO walking down the streets of Wall Street in the above outfit and then throwing on this coat on her way out at night.

A youthful look from Marc, still keeping with the 20's look and playing with the idea of the slip dress.

HELLOOO Glamour! This gown just screams Old Hollywood done new, especially with the fur in a vest form.  A high point in the show.
Marilyn would be proud.

Also working with a predominately black and neutral palette is new comer Jason Wu who was made famous when First Lady Michelle Obama wore his white couture creation to the inaugural ball.

Wu really came alive when the formalwear came out, prompting many to dub him the next Oscar de la Renta.

Can you see a similarity between the above and Michelle's dress below?
