Boogie Nights: The Return of Halston

Turning out the way I did my parent's didn't stick me in front of Nickelodeon but rather allowed me to express full control over the TV, which led to flipping back and forth between MTV Road Rules, HBO and the E Channel during my developmental stage.  I remember very clearly the time I watched The E True Hollywood Story on fashion designer Halston and was hooked.  Tomorrow at the Tribeca Film Festival the documentary Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston will debut. Roy Halston Frowick was called the first celebrity fashion designer and trademarked a very basic, column shape.  The documentary features personal interviews with Diane von Furstenberg, Liza Minelli, Angelica Houston and even Billy Joel, which, I mean, I don't know what he knows about fashion. Crashing cars, yes, fashion, no. If this had been a documentary about marrying underage women, then I would get it, but whatever, I digress.   The brand which took as many high highs and low lows as Halston himself on any given Saturday has recently received a resurgence with Sarah Jessica Parker being named as creative head of the new brand, Halston Heritage.  SJP will be sporting most of the line in the next Sex and the City movie.  Take a look at some shots from the new SATC movie with Parker in her brand's duds.
I'm not really sure which piece on the left is from the new line.  I'm hoping nothing.

She even finagled a deal to get a HH piece on the movie poster.

I love this one!

Sarah Jessica Parker at the launch party of Halston Heritage.  Love her, but you can't deny the glitz and glamour that was Halston the man, you have to wonder if the new line can hold up to the legend.

LIIZAAAAAAAAA

GLADIATOR, GLADIATOR, GLADIATOR!
Pictures from Time Life Archive
I love this picture! Halston was big on bold colors, especially red and blue (a dizzuhh).  It was really him that really made the jumpsuit major so thank him for the look and the camel toe.  He was also known for his couture creations, like this vintage masterpiece.
This vintage piece is amazeballs with a price tag to match.  Check it out here if you have an extra $4500 and a 24 inch waist.  So how does the new stuff compare to the old?

Oh god I love this dress. It reminds me of the scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's when she comes out of her room in the sheet.  At $325 its not like draining blood from a hidden vein, just one thats a little more visible.

If you are going to go full jumpsuit, this is the one to get.  A simple, classic black halter with a loose fit in the pants and a tie waist.  This and most from the collection are really seasonless, which, heeellooo, means you will be getting the most for your dollas. $355
SJP's dress in the electronic flesh.  This one is a little pricer at $435.

The longer version also comes in white and is the priciest of the collection at $895.

I don't love this dress but it is very much indicative of old school Halston. $545

Oh, lookey here! It's the cover shot so to speak. $325.

This gown is amazing! $455.  SJP could wear this one or the one below to the Sex and the City 2 premier.

$545

This sequined vest has the long, boxy shape that was so big in the 80's but a more demure sparkle that certainly wouldn't be seen back then.

I'm just putting it out there, this will be on my birthday list, which is only 4 months away, so everyone can start saving. Its on $275!!!!
I don't know how I feel about this romper.  I like the shape and everything but the tie-dye meets Pocahantas print is questionable. $375.  You can check out the entire collection on Net-a-Porter.
